Cover Tennessee was developed to create health insurance options that are affordable and portable, and meet the needs of the uninsured in our state. Cover Tennessee has four programs. As a result of new regulations put in place by the Affordable Care Act the Cover Tennessee programs are being modified with new eligibility and enrollment requirements. Please see below for a brief description or click on the program tabs on the left of this page for more detailed information about each program. Please take note that current coverage and benefits will NOT end until December 31, 2013.
CoverTN is a partnership between the state, employers and individuals that makes health care coverage affordable for the state's working uninsured.
Effective October 31, 2013, all new enrollment in CoverTN is suspended. The last effective date for new CoverTN members will be December 1, 2013. Coverage for all CoverTN members will end December 31, 2013.
CoverKids offers free comprehensive health coverage to qualifying uninsured children in Tennessee, age 18 and younger. For families with a household income greater than 250 percent of the federal poverty level which participate in the CoverKids buy-in program, coverage will end December 31, 2013.
CoverRx offers affordable prescription drugs to Tennesseans who lack pharmacy coverage. For members with incomes at or above 100 percent of the federal poverty level your coverage will end December 31, 2013.
AccessTN is comprehensive health insurance for adults who are uninsurable due to pre-existing conditions. Effective October 31, 2013, no new applications will be accepted for AccessTN. The last effective date for new AccessTN members will be December 1, 2013. For current members who are above the federal poverty level and/or are NOT currently receiving premium assistance, your coverage will end April 30, 2014.
